This article talks about something that anyone who suffers from a tragedy may face. It is called Stockholm syndrome. Jaycee Dugard is a past victim of kidnapping and is suffering from this today. It is a syndrome that differs for all, and it affects the brain. This syndrome makes it harder for a passed victim to move on from the evil they faced and reenter their new life.

This database relates to the book, Even Silence Has an End, and talks about the people who were kidnapped in that story. It doesn’t fully answer the research question, but it does talk about the ‘proof of life’ videos that while in captivity Ingrid and other fellow captives had to partake in. These videos were a source of weapons that the FARC used. Their idea was to show how awful life was for the captives to try and get the US government to negotiate for their freedom.

This is a valuable source that contains information stating that it is hard for a kidnapped victim to move on after the escape or their release. The tragedy and fear is something the victims will have to carry with them their whole lives. It also goes into detail about how the hostage end up depending on their kidnapper. This text relates 100% to the research question.
